研究概要

ヴィシュヌ教パンチャラートラ派に属する、これまで知られていなかった初期の3文献の批判校訂本を詳細な序説と要約とともに完成した。さらにこの批判校訂本に基づく研究から、中世初期のパンチャラートラ派の歴史に新たな事実・視点を提供するとともに、ヴィシュヌ教の形成期におけるシヴァ教およびヴェーダの宗教との密接な関係を解明した。また3文献のうちの1つには、ヴリシニ族の英雄信仰としてのヴィシュヌ教の古い儀礼体系を跡付けることができた。
