研究実績の概要 |
In vivo experiments, investigated the effects of enamel matrix derivative Emdogain (EMD) on the degraded periodontal tissue after immersing the tooth in different tooth storage media. Male SD rats had their maxillary first molar teeth extracted and immersed in different tooth storage media. They were then transplanted into the abdominal wall, with one group as the control receiving only the tooth and another group receiving EMD application before transplantation. When EMD was applied before transplantation, it reduced the number of CD68-positive and cathepsin-K positive cells in the PDL. The EMD-treated group also showed increased alveolar bone formation compared to teeth immersed in tooth storage media only. These findings suggest that EMD promotes PDL fibroblast growth while inhibiting epithelial cell growth, facilitating the regeneration of damaged periodontal tissues.

理由
Since this study follows on from previous research, things are moving along smoothly without any major problems.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The transplantation procedure will be followed again in future experiments using different tooth storage media. Afterwards, histological examinations will be carried out on subcutaneously transplanted rat molars to determine whether Basic Fibroblast Growth Factor and Enamel Matrix Derivative impact the regeneration of periodontal tissues. A variety of storage media will be examined in order to determine the particular causes of ankylosis. Future studies will examine the regeneration and reconstruction of periodontal ligaments and the amount of alveolar bone formation in different groups will be evaluated using a transplantation model.
