研究実績の概要 |
To pursue the overall objective, we started three projects: (1) a project about dualism (legitimation-value shaping) in market processes by using the data of genetically modified (GM) crop market, (2) a project about dualism (own and peer experiences) in vicarious learning by using the data of global airlines’ accidents, and (3) a project about dualism (generalists and specialists) in knowledge transfers. We have made substantial progresses in the first two projects, which will be explicated further here. In this first project, we argue that although the emergent theoretical framework pinpoints labels as drivers of development market promoters can use as a medium for projecting identities and gaining widespread acceptance, an overarching model of market promoters’ use of labels is essential to characterize promoters’ engagement practices more accurately. In this study, we propose that promoters use labels for market building and widening, and that the former can be further decomposed into legitimization and value shaping. In the second projects, we claim that via-hub vicarious learning occurs when an organization learns from the experiences of other organizations (peers) through common hubs such as manufacturers and service providers. This study aims to enhance our understanding of this form of collective intelligence by investigating how the experiences of peers linked through hubs provide more learning benefits to the focal organization. Three hypotheses are proposed regarding the virtues of non-dependent, recallable, and in-honeymoon peers.

理由
We are experiencing delays for reasons beyond the optimistic predictions made regarding the publication speed of the paper. First, although access to data has been secured, the findings obtained lacked strong theoretical support, necessitating reconsiderations of theoretical frameworks. Second, the project requires comprehensive data collection, but changes in the collection strategy have occurred. In particular, we are having the difficulty in cleaning data as the datasets present a very comprehensive overview of global airline industry from the 1950s.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
In conducting our projects, there are two remarks. First, as our goal is to explore relatively big questions and address big pictures, we subdivide these big themes into sub-themes. By integrating and synthesizing the insights gained from these sub-issues, we will pursue the research objectives. Second, we believe that our research productivities will enhance if we develop new sub-themes through the pursuit of the current ones. We view this as broadening the scope of the research positively and flexibly respond to emerging research opportunities.
