Studying Magnetized Binary Star Formation with ALMA

研究実績の概要

During the first year we focused our effort in the BOPS data and the data reduction of the high-mass data.

For the BOPS data, once data reduction was completed, involved the analysis of the molecular outflow direction, the magnetic field orientation on the plane of the sky, and the velocity gradient of an optically thin tracer (C17O molecular transition J=2-1). All of these would be incorporated into a paper that then would be used as guidance of the work that would be done with ALPPS, once the data is ready for analysis.

The data reduction of the high-mass star-forming region was carried out smoothly. Tools that would be used in the data reduction of ALPPS were improved and finalized to be used later more efficiently in ALPPS.

理由

The ALPPS data delivery was delayed by the ALMA observatory. This, however, did not stop us to continue developing and improving existing data reduction scripts using the other data sets available for the project, BOPS and a target in the high-mass regime.

今後の研究の推進方策

Three main goals were set for this fiscal year.
1.) Submit to ApJL article presenting the funding in the BOPS data, analyzing the orientation of velocity gradients, molecular outflows, and magnetic fields for the whole sample.
2.) Submit to ApJL the analysis of the high-mass protostellar system, connecting how the magnetic field affect binary formation.
3.) To move as fast as possible with the data reduction of the main data sets for this KAKENHI, ALPPS data, once the data is delivered.
