研究実績の概要 |
Hydrous minerals in subducting slabs play a significant role in transporting water and halogens into the deep mantle. Studying the physicochemical properties of halogen-bearing hydrous minerals under high pressure and high temperature is an essential issue to understand the coupled water-halogen subduction. This study is aimed at systematically investigating hydrogen-bonding configurations of F-bearing mantle hydrous minerals.
The research project carried out in the last fiscal year was “Hydrogen-bonding configurations of F-doped brucite”. The crystal structure, hydrogen sublattice structure, and hydrogen-bonding geometries of F-doped brucite were determined under ambient conditions and at high pressure. The hydroxyl vibrational properties were also studied.

理由
Difficulties were encountered in synthesizing phase A and phase E samples. The project of brucite was changed to be firstly conducted, and it moves on smoothly. Meaningful results have been obtained and were published in conferences. A manuscript is under preparation.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The research plans for the next fiscal year are as follows: (1) Synthesizing phase A and phase E samples using the multi-anvil apparatus; (2) Preparation and submission of the manuscript on the brucite project; (3) Investigating elemental doping effects on the hydrogen-bonding configurations of phase A, phase E, and other mantle hydrous minerals under ambient conditions and at high pressure.

A trip to Europe was planned in the fiscal year of 2023 for an international joint research, but it was delayed. This planned trip will be made in the fiscal year of 2024.
