研究実績の概要 |
This research focuses on integrating ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) into coastal defense. The key objectives are: (WP1) meta-data analysis on EbA effectiveness, (WP2) development of a conceptual framework for EbA implementation, and (WP3) case studies analysis in Singapore, Bali, and Vietnam. In FY2023, significant progress was made. The Principal Investigator (PI) completed WP1 and WP2. One paper presenting WP1 results were published in Nature Communications, and one paper presenting WP2 are now under review in Ocean and Coastal Management. For WP3, extensive fieldwork was conducted in Singapore, Vietnam, and Bali, with data collection fully completed in Bali, and partially completed in Singapore and Danang. Additionally, the PI presented the research at three international conferences

理由
The research project has progressed more smoothly than originally planned. The completion of WP1 and WP2 within the financial year demonstrates effective research execution. The publication of WP1 results in Nature Communications and the submission of WP2 findings to Ocean and Coastal Management highlight the relevance of the work. WP3 has also advanced well, with multiple fieldworks conducted and data collection completed in Bali. Presenting the research at three international conferences further underscores the project's impact and results in the academic community. Overall, the project is on track, with achievements ahead of schedule.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The focus for FY2024 is to complete data collection, conduct data analysis, write publications, and participate in international conferences. Key activities include: (1) Data Collection: Conduct additional fieldwork in either Singapore or Vietnam for surveys and expert interviews. (2) Data Analysis: Analyze the collected data from all case studies (Singapore, Bali, and Vietnam) to assess the effectiveness and implementation of EbA strategies. (3) Publications: Write and submit at least two papers detailing the findings from WP3. (4) Conferences: Present findings at international conferences to disseminate results and gather feedback from the global research community.
