The captioned kaken project made a significant progress in 2014FY. Based on the data endeavors in 2012FY and 2013FY, a full version of national accounts time series including factor costs (income) was constructed for 37 industries in 1980-2010 and based on which a series of analysis was completed. The focus of the analytical work in 2014FY is using factor costs-weighted input measures to conduct more sophisticated growth accounting exercises with direct aggregation across industries incorporating aggregate production possibility frontier approach with Domar weights. This has allowed us to examine industry level productivity performances. Especially, with our understanding of the influence of the government in individual industries, we can also examine the comparative performance between industries with different degrees of the state interference, which is a way to test our conjectures about the implications of the state intervention for industry-level productivity and efficiency. The cross-industry results have indeed shown that the government-involved or influenced industries suffered from poor productivity performance and the economy paid cost for structural distortions.
