After collecting relevant literature review and conducting stakeholder interview in Japan and Singapore, the researcher has conducted stakeholder interview in Hungary. The main activities in 2013 was distributing questionnaire to tourists in the three countries, Japan, Singapore and Hungary. (1) A total of 300 copies of questionnaires were distributed to foreign tourists who visited Japan to ask how their medical/health-related interest and motivation affect their decision to come to Japan as a tourist destination. By performing this survey, the researcher has tried to figure out what and how the medical and health tourism industry in Japan should do to successfully meet the market demand of international medical/health tourists who come to Japan. (2) The same activities were conducted in Singapore for the same reason as in Japan. By performing this survey, the researcher has tried to figure out what and how the medical and health tourism industry in Japan can learn from the Singaporean case in attracting medical/health tourists who wish to come to Japan. (3) The same activities were conducted in Hungary as those in Japan and Singapore. By completing this survey, the researcher has tried to figure out what Japan can learn from the Hungarian situation. Analyzing all data from the activities noted above, the researcher could successfully comprehend the practical market demand of medical/health tourism in three countries to suggest what the optimal management and marketing strategies should be for the Japanese medical/health tourism industry.
