研究実績の概要 |
Three years of data was collected on the dynamics of dissolved oxygen in the canopy of a saragassum forest and seagrass meadow. Based on oxygen, light, temperature, wind speed, water velocity, and water height data, we were able to estimate hourly, daily, and monthly rates of primary production. More importantly, we were able to demonstrate that although daily differences in production were insignificant at the daily and hourly level, over the three years of the study, seagrass meadows were relatively more stable in productivity and slightly more productive. Also, we were report for the first time the state of the two ecosystems. Both were net heterogeneous and rely on an external carbon source to maintain productivity.
