研究実績の概要 |
In 2014, the research has been focused on the case of the rise of resource nationalism in Mongolia. An extensive period of desk study, followed by a fieldwork in Mongolia, have been successfully undertaken. The year was further dedicated to a writing period and to the dissemination of the research key findings. The research findings point towards a greater need to theorise the concept of resource nationalism within a framework which understands the politics of the long-term socio-environmental impacts of large-scale mining activities and its influence on policy changes associated to resource nationalism. The process highlights the need for a strong state involvement in the legislative and monitoring process of the sector, and for developing strong policies towards channeling mining rent towards social spending. Such long terms policies may go a long way in insuring the stability of the sector.
