研究実績の概要 |
The LatticeNET project is divided into five work packages (WP). We are progressing according to the original plan, and in 2014 achieved the following results under WP1, WP2, and WP5. WP1. New triangular constructions of low-density lattice codes (LDLCs) based on the idea of array codes, borrowed from array LDPC codes. These constructions out-perform existing LDLC constructions, as was presented at ISITA 2014 (Melbourne, Australia). WP2. New low-complexity methods for shaping lattices to achieve shaping gain for the AWGN channel were developed. Using a technique called "systematic lattice shaping" a method that combines a low-dimesnion shaping lattice and a high-dimension coding lattice was developed, and presented at ITW2014 (Hobart, Tasmania, Australia). In addition, the empirical effectiveness of MMSE scaling for LDLC lattices was shown, and presented at Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems, and Computers 2014 (Pacific Grove, California, USA). WP5. LatticeNET supported the visit to Japan of a prominent researcher from Australia in August 2014. He gave an invited presentation in Tokyo, and participated in the LatticeNET project meeting in Ishikawa. As a result of his visit, a project member visited him in Australia for collaborative research for several weeks.

理由
As summarized in the Research Achievements section, the research is smoothly progressing according to the original plan for the five work packages (WP1-WP5). In particular, of the four technical work packages (WP1-WP4), after the first year, WP1 and WP2 are partially completed, but some more work and publications remain. We invited an overseas researcher in 2014 (who also attended the LatticeNET project meeting), according to WP5 plan. WP3, WP4 will begin in the second year, and this is consistent with the plan.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
Research will proceed according to the original plan. In the second and third year, emphasis will include both lattices (WP1, WP2) and their application to wireless networks (WP3, WP4). WP1. New results for efficient decoding of LDLC lattices are expected. WP2. New constructions for efficient shaping of nested lattice codes, which also possess a group property, are expected. WP3, WP4. With the above results obtained, we will move to showing practical approaches to wireless communication networks using lattices. WP5. Prominent researchers from overseas will be invited to Japan, to give an invited lecture and participate in the LatticeNET project meeting.
