| 研究実績の概要 |
In the past year the research team made progress in this project in all workpackages: Firstly, a we investigated the effect of fare structures on origin destination demand with the help of London data. We also investigated "price capping effects". Currently London's Transport Authority has expressed interest in the results and we are in further discussion on this research. Secondly a survey has been conducted among different cities, mainly in Europe on their fare systems and the rationale for it. The research is supported by the European Metropolitan Transport Authorities (EMTA). A draft analysis has been completed and results will presented at an EMTA conference this May. Thirdly, at the core of the project is the development of an efficient assignment model for transit networks with nonlinear fare structures. This has become the PhD topic of a student under the supervision of the PI. The research is progressing, though is challenging. Therefore no direct publications on this part of the work are available yet, though are expected during the final year.

理由
As outlined in the progress report, in two areas that is (1) OD estimation with complex fare structures based on smart card and (2) the survey analysis on fare structures in cities the research is progressing very smoothly.
In terms of developing the assignment model, the research is slightly behind the schedule. One reason is the delay of the project in the beginning due to the PhD student supporting this task starting only in the second year of the project. The second reason is that the modelling challenges are significant and require indeed more time than initially expected. However, recently some ideas are tested that appear to be promising and we are confident the research can catch up with the schedule also on this front.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
In the third year of the project the survey analysis will be completed and published. To complete this work the feedback at the EMTA conference in May will be important. Furthermore, the work will be discussed in August in Boston, US with some experts on the topic.
Currently further the programming for a proto-type assignment with complex fare structure is under process. In fact, examples for small example networks have already been prepared. During the third year the approach will be thoroughly tested and applied to some real case studies, such as London's and Tokyo's metro networks. The work is also expected to be published next year.

This year the budget is needed for presentation of results as well as for preparation for publication. Some personnel expenditure is needed for final data analysis. Also for large scale study a powerful PC or laptop will be needed.

| 次年度使用額の使用計画 |
Participation in two events has been confirmed: Firstly a meeting with the European Metropolitan Transport Authorities in Budapest this May to present the survey analysis results. Secondly at a conference in Boston some of the analytical results will be published.
Soon a PC or laptop will be purchased. Further, meetings with all collaborators have been arranged. For personnel costs one Postdoctorial student has confirmed his participation in the project.
