Puerto Ricans work to solve the social problems of poverty, health and education. Puerto Rican women are special within minorities. Having American citizenship, they work with the women of Latin America and the Caribbean in common causes. Puerto Ricans are in a special situation given that they are between the United States and Latin America and the Caribbean. They are unique in the US society and they are working on various obstacles to get better life.
On the island, Puerto Rican feminists have worked actively to change the situation, working with members of the United States Congress or with American feminists. They accept their political situation of being a colony, but use that situation to obtain advantages that provide them with a better future. For example, recently, the mayor of San Juan, the capital of Puerto Rico, protested against the government of the United States regarding the slow reaction during Hurricane Maria in September 2017. President Trump received much criticism so the protest of the mayor captured the attention of the media of the United States. In 2009 Sonia Sotomayor, from a humble family in the Bronx of New York, became the first Latina Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2018, also from the Bronx itself, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became the youngest member of the House of Representatives of the United States. The United States has to react to solve the problems of poverty, health and education of Latino residents. The Puerto Ricans work for that. This work affects American society, and also Puerto Rican society.

理由
In 2017, I planned to visit Puerto Rico but the country was affected by Hurricane Maria in September of that year. The situation regarding infrastructure was such that the venues and the electricity still had not been repaired at all well, so I canceled the visit. After Hurricane Maria, many people left the island to go to the continent of the United States. I took the time to analyze the situation. In 2018, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez became a member of the United States Congress. She is from the Bronx of New York. She has polarized the attention of the media. Not only do Puerto Ricans support her but also minority Americans who are not happy with the current situation do so as well. I also took time to analyze this new situation.

The next year is the last year of the investigation. The analysis, synthesis and the conclusions of the investigation will be presented. Besides that, I will analyze the phenomena of many Puerto Ricans leaving the island to go to the continent of the United States due to the 2017 hurricane, the conflict between the government of the United States and the mayor of San Juan, Puerto Rico, due to the measures taken by the US government during and after of Hurricane "Maria", and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's achievement of being the youngest woman elected to Congress in the history of the United States. I will analyze these new situations with respect to Puerto Rican women.
