| 研究実績の概要 |
The investigators attended three CA data sessions in Tokyo, at one of which (2015.7.11) they presented an excerpt of data gathered through this project, and significant insights were gained through the analysis and discussion. At the JACET-Kanto conference (2015.7.12), valuable information was obtained about CA-related interactive aspects of intercultural communication and English language education. The overseas data-gathering trips were very successful: 29 recordings (14+ hours) from the UK and 10 recordings (10+ hours) from New Zealand. A total of 9 hours of interaction has now been transcribed, of which 3 hours is in CA format. Audio and transcript data from this project has been piloted in on-campus English conversation instruction, involving pedagogical "CA data sessions" and student-centered data-gathering, reflections and presentations, as awareness-raising exercises. Finally, a research paper on this project has been submitted to the Bulletin of Joetsu University of Education (Vol.36), and is in the final stages of review and minor revisions:

理由
1. The planned targets for the second year have been achieved.
2. The initial target for quantity of recordings to be collected in the second year was about 10 hours, but more than 24 hours have been collected, in addition to the 25 hours collected in the first year, bringing the total to nearly 50 hours, which is well over the initial target for the whole project.
3. A total of 6.5 hours as already been transcribed, which exceeds the initial target for the whole project.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
For FY2016, the following is planned:
(1) Employing on-campus and hopefully off-campus (native-speaker) assistants, substantial progress in transcribing data: an additional 5 hours, of which 2.5 hours should be in CA format.
(2) The researchers hope to present findings from this project at the annual conference of SIETAR-Japan (異文化コミュニケーション学会) in Nagoya in September.
(3) At least one research article will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
(1) The budget for equipment and consumables was overspent by \171,946, but this was necessary to obtain a tablet PC and extra recording equipment for data-gathering, analysis and public presentation. (2) Travel expenses were \149,036 less than expected due to lack of time for intended domestic travel and conference attendance. (3) Labor costs were \56,300 less than expected due to lack of availability of assistants. (4) Other costs were \38,500 less than expected due to unexpected efficiency of the use of equipment.

The carried-over amount of \140,015 will be allocated to labor costs (人件費), because it will be the final year of the project and as much data needs to be transcribed as possible, in order to maximize the possible outcomes of the project.
