研究実績の概要 |
Topological transitions in spin interferometers was successfully studied during this year in collaboration with University of Seville group (prof. Diego Frustaglia, prof. Jose-Pablo Baltanas and Mr. Kike Vasquez) and experimental group at Tohoku University lead by prof. Junsaku Nitta. The results show theoretically that topological transitions are possible to achieve in spin interferometers and they display a characteristic displacement of interference pattern in conductance. The results have been written in a manuscript which is submitted to Physical Review Letters (under review) and can be accessed in the arXiv server (arXiv:1412.5487). In addition to this work follow-up works have been started which focus on classical systems and systems with non-conventional polygonal geometry. Initial results show interesting effects which warrant further studies in this fields.

理由
Collaboration with the overseas group at University of Seville has gone very smoothly and created a lot of synergy in this project. The findings have been more surprising than initially was thought and have a broad impact in other physical systems. Collaboration with the experimental group at Tohoku University has created opportunities to test the theoretical predictions in experimental systems.

今後の研究の推進方策 |
The new Hokusai supercomputer system at RIKEN has recently started initial operations phase. There are plans to use this system to study more complicated system than was studied so far, such as polygonal interferometers with multi-mode transport channels and disorder. These studies are expected to deepen the knowledge achieved in the previous fiscal year.
