研究実績の概要 |
(1) Completion of the learner corpus, with a total word count of 550,000 tokens. All the data has been treated and standardised. The learner data has also been POS-tagged. (2) Completion of the corpus database, with profile data for each learner, and circumstantial data for each text in the corpus. The profile data includes standard learner variables in the field, and also some motivational measures. Initial analysis shows a strong correlation between the learners' orientation towards the news topic and length of written output. (3) New register analysis of the learner and reference corpus employing principal components analysis with bigrams as a unit of analysis. This revealed stratification across the learner corpus, and a clear divergence from the reference corpus in terms of clausal phrasing. (4) Ongoing results shared and discussed with scholars at conferences, and other experts in the field.

理由
Although the learner corpus is now finished, and a lot of analyses has been completed, the project is further behind than anticipated due to extra administrative duties imposed upon me by my faculty. This means that the longitudinal analysis is yet to be undertaken.
|
今後の研究の推進方策 |
(1) Investigate the extent to which learner CMC develops over the course of an academic year with a longitudinal analysis of register variation. (2) Present findings in a suitable forum.
|
次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
As this project was delayed through faculty level administrative duties, not all aspects of the plan (including those incurring costs) were sufficiently completed this last year.
|
次年度使用額の使用計画 |
Although the completion of the analysis will not require much material support, I anticipate requiring supplies sufficient to cover the dissemination of the research results, as well as some new reference literature from the field: 1) Supplies: 50,000 2) Books: 35,000
