研究実績の概要 |
The two principal outputs of this year's research were the following two papers accepted for publication in 2016:- JONES, T.E., & YAMAMOTO, K. (2016). Segment-based monitoring of domestic and international climbers at Mount Fuji: Targeted risk reduction strategies for existing and emerging visitor segments. Accepted for publication in Journal of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism. http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.jort.2016.01.002i Internationalization of adventure tourism necessitates monitoring of the demographic profile and behaviour of diversifying visitor segments. This paper compared domestic and international climbers descending from Mount Fuji over two seasons (2011-2012). Findings have implications for targeted risk reduction strategies.
Thomas Edward JONES, Kiyotatsu YAMAMOTO & Akihiro KOBAYASHI (2016). Investigating Climbers’ Awareness and Willingness to Pay a Donation: A Comparative Survey of Domestic and International Climber Segments at Mount Fuji. Journal of Environmental Information Science 44(5), 131-136. After World Heritage Site inscription in 2013, a new pilot system was introduced at Mount Fuji encouraging climbers to donate ¥1000 towards improved environmental conservation. This paper reports the results of a questionnaire survey conducted in the 2013 season to compare the socio-economic characteristics, level of awareness and willingness to pay (WTP) the new donation between Japanese and international climbers.
