| 研究実績の概要 |
I have recently completed a large scale data collection project. This involved collecting information on the annual general shareholders meetings at all firms listed on the first section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange from last year. This involved examining the AGM result reports (sourced from EDINET) for over 1800 companies to determine which had voted on proposals related to executive compensation, which produced a data set of over 700 results. This information was supplemented by examining the notices of convocation for each company for more detailed information on the resolutions. This data will form the core quantitative element of the research project. This activity reflects a narrowing of the focus of the research from the original plan (the role of advisors on corporate governance in general) to a more specific target (executive compensation).
I also attended the ASLI conference in the University of Malaya, where I was able to meet academics in the field and discuss the problem, and a Department of Justice workshop in Osaka.

理由
The most time-consuming part of the research, data collection, is now completed, approximately half-way through the project`s timeline which I believe to be satisfactory. There have been no major problems thus far and a preliminary examination of what has been gathered indicates it should be useful. The remainder of the research (outlined in the `Planning for the Future Work` section below) should be capable of being completed with the time and budget remaining.

| 今後の研究の推進方策 |
For the next year the research plan consists of the following. First will be qualitative research. This will involve analyzing the data gathered and conducting interviews with corporate governance advisers.
Second will be conference participation. The author will attend the ASLI conference in May 2015 and also the EASLA conference in Tokyo in August where preliminary results of the research will be presented. Depending on remaining funds available a third conference may also be attended later in 2015.
Third will be the research paper. The researcher is preparing an article which will likely be 10-14,000 words in length for publication in a peer-reviewed law journal. The goal is to have a draft submitted for review by the end of 2015, with publication ideally taking place by mid-2016.

| 次年度使用額が生じた理由 |
I will be attending two conferences where I will be meeting leading scholars in the field and presenting my research, so I hope to gain valuable feedback for the paper. I also plan to take on research trip to Tokyo for the purposes of interviewing corporate governance advisers.

| 次年度使用額の使用計画 |
Approximately 350,000 yen will be used for conference expenses, 90,000 will be used for one research trip to Tokyo for interviews and 10,000 yen will be used for miscellaneous expenses (office supplies, books).
