During this project, the PI managed to:
- set up an international network of experts in the ecology of penguins, willing to share data collected all around Antarctica, and to study the link between sea-ice and predators at the entire regional scale;
- design and successfully carry out a research survey to study this link all year-round, using data-loggers; two papers are close to be submitted on this topic;
- discover a new behaviour in penguins (preying on jellyfish), that may change our perception of niche flexibility of the penguins. The PI published a first paper on this matter, and then gathered data from 5 countries and 4 penguin species to strengthen conclusions, and wrote a second paper about the importance of this behaviour. The paper is now in revision (journal impact factor > 8).
