The purpose of this research is to develop a systematic design framework for efficient control of complex networks of dynamic agents. The main achievements of the first year are summarized as follows.
1. Collaborating with Prof. Brian Anderson in Australian National University, we designed an efficient control method for networks of agents to track spatial-temporal varying parameters. Our work is published in Automatica. 2. Collaborating with Prof. Zhiyun Lin in Zhejiang University, we developed a distributed algorithm for networks of agents to perform constrained optimization. Our work is accepted and to appear in Asian Control Conference 2015; we also prepare submission to IEEE Trans. Automatic Control. 3. An extensive literature review is done on the control aspects of complex networks, and Prof. Murray Wonham from University of Toronto is invited to give a 10-hour course on internal model principle. These pave the way to develop more general control design framework based on internal model principle.

Several international research collaborations have been established, and works accepted for journal and conference publications.

Plans for future work are as follows: 1. develop more general control design framework based on internal model principle; 2. develop simulations and experiments to validate theoretical results.

In the first year, my research has focused mainly on developing theoretical results. Hence the purchase of experiment facilities has been postponed to the second year. Also my travel expenses to conferences were covered by the JST's tenure track funding.
|
In the second year, more focus of my research will be placed on simulation and experiment. The research funding is expected to be spent for purchasing experimental facilities including robots.
