高濃度近藤物質の系統的研究

研究概要

初年度設置された試料作製装置は全て本格的稼動状態に入った。まず熱間静水圧加熱炉(HIP)はその高いガス圧を利用して、最も興味ある価数揺動物質とされながら純良試料作成が困難であったCeNに於てそのストイキオメトリの制御に成功した。超高圧結晶作成炉に於ては、常圧で生成不可能なGd$$B_(12)$$を9万気圧、1500℃の条件下で作成する事に成功すると共に、作成のノウハウを確立した。ロングパルスマグネットは予定通り完成し、従来困難であった金属的試料の測定が、低温で可能になり、ヘビーフェルミオン系の強磁場特性が明らかにされつつある。極低温偏極中性子回折装置は年度末に完成輸入、般入され所期の性能がチェックされ、61年度に本格的稼動状態に入る。まず、異常近藤物質として吾吾により発見されたYbPの非弾性散乱が行われる。石川教授の急逝により遠藤助教授が代って分担者となった。一方昨年度に引続き本研究によって増強された種々の測定装置、試料作製装置等により飛躍的に研究が前進し、CeBiのドハース効果、Ce系では初めての価数揺動によるギャップを示すCe$$Pd_(1-x)$$Cu_x$$系の発見、Sm系での近藤物質の発見、Ce$$Rh_3$$$$B_2$$の異常強磁性と近藤状態の相克情况の解明等、飛躍的前進があった。一方理論面では従来困難であったF電子系の多体効果を取り入れたバンド計算がCeBiに付て行われ、ドハース効果との良い一致を得、近藤物質の今後のバンド計算に大きな展望が切り開かれた。又、C-F混成効果の綜合的取扱いが可能となり大きな成果を得た。この間、仙台にてのF電子系の国際会議及び精選された内外理論家による谷口シンポジウムが開かれ、前者に於て本グループからは4ヶの招待講演、2ヶのシンポジウム講演及び22ヶの論文発表が行われ、後者に於ては3名が出席して発表を行い、世界的にみてもこの方面の研究の進展に大きな貢献をした。又、6月に日ソセミナーがソ連側の要請により行われた。
