研究概要	本総合研究では、無機材料を合成する手段として、固体高圧反応法、流体高圧反応法、超急冷法、融液反応法、溶液反応法、物理蒸着法、化学蒸着法等、多くの手段を横糸のごとく、また合成される材料とその特性や機能を縦糸のように考え、手段の間の域際的な討論や協力関係を通じて無機材料合成工学あるいは技術の総合的な展開を目指し、特に合成プロセスの制御性の検討とその向上、及びその結果として得られる生成物の特性や機能の向上を目的としている。役割分担は固相合成(第1)、液相合成(第2)および気相合成(第3)に係わる夫々の合成プロセスの機構解析と機能評価を行う3グル-プに大別して、研究を進めた。 2年の研究期間にわたる成果は以下のように位置づけ出来よう。プロセスの制御性に関しては、(1)合成環境の制御により、合成される材料の特性・機能の調整・制御に関するものが多く、その中で特定分子または成分の選択的な生成のように、極めてファインな制御が実現されている。また(2)構造などのイン・プロセス評価による制御性向上への取り組み、自己焼燃、光エネルギ-や超高温および付帯反応の利用、高効率インタカレ-ションなど、新プロセスというべき成果も少なくない。ほかに、(3)組成や相変態の制御、機構解明、(4)実用性を考慮した研究(コ-ティング)、さらに(5)新物質での成果も上げられている。材料、物質の観点では、ダイヤモンド、cBNのような超硬質・超高伝熱性のもの、GIC、窒素物、炭化物、酸化物等の複合材料やガラス材料、酸フッ化物系の新物質が扱われ、それらにおける組成、構造、機能の制御、向上が成果として得られた。また高性能超伝導材、コ-ティング材、磁性体、誘電体等の実用機能の評価、向上に関する成果も得られ、無機材料における無限ともいうべき可能性が次々に見えてきたと言える。今後もこの延長線上は一層奥深いものを蔵していると思われる。
