研究概要	諸種の感覚系における情報処理の素過程を比較解析し、以下の諸結果を得た。(1)視覚情報処理計:1)ショウジョウバエの網膜工は光受容膜と深い関係にあること(廣澤)、2)節足動物視細胞のラブド-ム内外のクロモフォアの量比は、動物の行動や光環境によって大きく変わること(江口)、3)モンシロチョウの複眼網膜には5種類の色受容特性の異なった視細胞が存在し、このうち紫外受容細胞と赤受容細胞は視髄まで伸びる長繊維であること(富永)、4)イソアワモチの二つの眼外光受容細胞は光の波長弁別能をもつこと(後藤)、5)Ca^<2+>はタコ網膜における電位発生に密接に関与していること(大津)、6)ゴキブリ単眼の視細胞-2次ニュ-ロン間の伝達物質はGABAで、2次-3次ニュ-ロン間の情報伝達には非線形特性がみられること(立田)、7)クモの視神経の遠心性ニュ-ロンは、光受容器によって応答が異なること(山下)、8)ザリガニ脳のノンスパイキング・ニュ-ロンは視覚及び重力刺激に応答し、動眼ニュ-ロンのシナプス前ニュ-ロンであること(山口)、9)ハエ視葉には、神経活動の可塑性に関連する物質が存在すること(三村)、10)コオロギの視覚性介在ニュ-ロンの光による応答位相は視髄周辺にある概日時計によって制御されていること(千葉)などを明らかにした。(2)機械情報処理系:1)コオロギ最終腹部神経節にはシナプス可塑性に関係すると考えられる局所ユ-ロンが存在すること(下澤)、2)ザリガニ腹部神経節内には平衡胞及び腹部姿勢制御系の両者から興奮性入力を受ける下行性の節間ニュ-ロンが存在すること(高畑)などを発見した。(3)化学情報処理系:1)ミツバチ、ゴキブリなどで前大脳及びキノコ体の微細構造、前大脳ニュ-ロンの化学刺激に対する応答性などを明らかにし(渋谷)、2)ハエの摂食行動記録法を開発し、行動の定量化を試みた(白石)。
