Various high-entropy alloys, high-entropy ceramics (oxides and oxynitrides), and high-entropy hydrides were developed for different applications. The main findings of this project can be summarized as follows. (1) introduction of high-entropy alloys with a good combination of high strength and high hydrogen embrittlement resistance. (ii) Introduction of high-entropy oxides and oxynitrides with high photocatalytic activity hydrogen production, oxygen evolution, and CO2 conversion. (iii) introduction of new high-entropy hydrides for fast and reversible hydrogen storage at room temperature. The combination of first-principles calculations with experiments provided new insights into the mechanism underlying the high performance of high-entropy materials for different functional applications.
