| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
今年度は、2018年に親潮域上流の西部ベーリング海で実施した航海で得られたサンプルを分析し、データを解析した。また、化学トレーサーとして、ネオジム同位体比(143Nd/144Nd)及び希土類元素濃度の測定をベーリング海・チャクチ海および北太平洋の広範囲にわたって実施した。ベーリング海表層におけるNd同位体比及び希土類元素の分布、ベーリング海、チャクチ海陸棚域においてはNd同位体比及び希土類元素の鉛直分布を明らかにした。陸棚域において火成岩由来のNdが堆積物から付加される過程を検討した
また、栄養塩と基礎生産の関係を正しく評価するために、H29までの航海で測定した光学データと基礎生産力データを用いて基礎生産推定アルゴリズムを検証後、アルゴリズムパラメータを調整することで推定精度を向上させた。また、生産力の指標となり得る渦内部の植物プランクトンサイズの違いを、衛星データを用いて全球スケールで明らかにした。さらに、光学データを用いてベーリング海盆域とベーリング陸棚域間の水塊構造について解析を行った。
５年間のOMIX研究期間で明らかになった親潮上流域を含めた北太平洋亜寒帯域周辺の鉄と栄養塩の循環像を、衛星データの解析結果とともに解析し、基礎生産季節変動パターンの地理的分布を決める鉄・栄養塩の供給過程を抽出した。さらに、これまでに環オホーツク観測研究センターとロシア極東海洋気象学研究所の共同海洋観測で得られた観測データを、日本の船舶を用いて実施した北太平洋亜寒帯域のデータと統合し解析を実施した。その結果、地球規模海洋大循環の終焉部における栄養物質循環を解明し、北太平洋の生物生産を維持する機構として公表した。
