Outline of Annual Research Achievements

高温高圧実験とその合成試料や天然試料の様々な分析を行った。具体的には、放射光X線粉末解析、メスバウア分光分析、レーザー加熱式ダイヤモンドアンビルセルを用いた高圧実験と化学組成分析や炭素・酸素・硫黄同位体分析を行い、以下の代表的な成果を得た。
(1) 下部マントルに2番目に多く含まれる鉱物であるフェロペリクレースの放射光X線粉末回折と、ビームラインに放射光メスバウア分光機を使用した高圧実験（0～160GPa）のその場観察 を行った。その結果フェロペリクレースは160GPaまで等軸晶系が安定であり、61-136GPaの間は低スピン状態と高スピン状態が共存し、136GPaより高い圧力では低スピン状態のみ存在することが明らかになった。
(2)かんらん岩に含まれる強親鉄性元素のマイクロスケールの分布を解析し、強親鉄性元素を核-マントル相互作用のトレーサーとして用いるには、地球深部での炭素質メルトの挙動が鍵となることを明らかにした。
(3)Fe-S系における核の温度圧力条件での実験結果により、Fe2Sが外核-内核境界条件での最も安定な硫黄化合物であることが明らかになった。
