Outline of Annual Research Achievements

水を電子源とする二酸化炭素還元によるメタン生成に有効な助触媒を拡張するために,共担持貴金属助触媒種の探索を行った。その結果,NaTaO3:Sr光触媒を用いた場合に,従来のRh-Ru助触媒に加えて,Pd-RuおよびPt-Ruを共担持した場合でも活性を示した。光電気化学系では,(CuGa)0.5ZnS2粉末光触媒をFTOへ堆積させた光カソードの高性能化のために導電性高分子修飾を試みたところ,ポリエチレンジオキシチオフェンを修飾することで可視光二酸化炭素還元活性が向上した。また,(CuGa)0.5ZnS2の合成法も検討したところ,固相法で合成した1μmサイズの(CuGa)0.5ZnS2粒子を用いた場合よりも,フラックス法で合成した数百nmサイズの(CuGa)0.5ZnS2微粒子を用いたときに大きいカソード光電流を与えた。一方,分子触媒系においては,光電子移動により生成する光触媒反応中間体であるRe錯体触媒の1電子還元種の後続過程を詳細に検討した。その結果,一電子還元種から,中間体としてカルボン酸錯体が生成することを明らかにした。この後続反応の速度定数は1.8 s-1であり錯体濃度に依存しなかった。生成したカルボン酸錯体は,暗中において数十秒の時間スケールでCOとOH-を放出し,出発錯体である炭酸エステル錯体に戻った。このように,複雑な光触媒反応機構の全容を解明することに成功した。また,分子光触媒を用いたCO2還元反応において,その効率を支配する光増感剤の光化学的な1電子還元過程をRe(I)錯体を用いて詳細に検討した。その結果,光誘起電子移動反応の駆動力が,光化学的な1電子還元の効率を決定する主な要因である事が分かり,その成果を基に,新たな光触媒系を構築することで,非常に高い光触媒効率を達成した。
