Research Abstract

We elucidated novel functions of Vac8 in peroxisome degradation (pexophagy) and of Atg8 in regulating the vacuolar morphology. Furthermore, we revealed the molecular mechanisms of an autophagic pathway induced in the lag phase of yeasts and a pexophagy process responsible for infection of a plant pathogen fungus, discovering new physiological functions of autophagy.
