Research Abstract

フラストレート量子スピン系の新奇性質と次元性の関係を調べることを目標に,物質開発を中心に実験を行った.その結果,水素化カルシウムを用いた低温還元反応によって,三次元ペロブスカイト構造SrFeO3を二次元無限層構造SrFeO2に変換することに成功した(Nature2007).鉄は従来,立体的な配位多面体をとると考えられてきたが,SrFeO2の鉄は平面四配位をもつ.この仕事はこれまでの無機化学,構造化学の常識を覆す発見であり,予定していた磁性測定を次年度に延期し,CaFeO2やSr3Fe2O5などの関連物質の合成報告を急いでまとめ報告する必要があったため,2007年度に購入予定であった高感度SQUIDセンサー付温度可変装置は,次年度に繰り越すことにした.他の二次元系では,直交ダイマー系SrCu2(BO3)2における圧力誘起ネマティック秩序の発見,μSRによる不純物誘起の一重項ペアの破れの発見,二次元S=1/2スピン系(CuCl)LaNb2O7における磁場誘起マグノンボーズ凝縮の観測,NMRと電子顕微鏡による超格子構造の観測と正方格子からの低対称化,(CuBr)Sr2Nb3010における逐次相転移と量子化された1/3磁化プラトーの発見がある.この系は正方格子を基調とするため1/3プラトーの背後にはフラストレーションに関わる面白い物理が潜んでいるものと考えられる.三次元系では,スピネル型CdCr2O4における磁場誘起相転移,ZnCr2O4における低温相の対称性の変化を見出した.一次元系では,Cu2V2O7, Mn2V2O7, Ni3V2O8の開発と単結晶の育成に成功した.
