Outline of Final Research Achievements	We conducted multifaceted research from the perspective of the role played by technology/art in the emergent processes of civilization in the Japanese archipelago, Mesoamerica, the Andes, and Oceania, which developed independently of each other, and obtained many significant academic findings. We also deepened our understanding of the cognitive characteristics of humans involved in the creation of civilizations and how diversity manifests itself in unique environments and historical contexts. Methodologically, by sharing the model of mutual permeation of objects and minds through the body, we were able to analyze the interrelationship between objects and humans from the viewpoints of auditory, tactile, and bodily senses in addition to visual cognition, and to approach the mechanisms that transform our cognition of time and space and our worldview and the view of a human being. These rezults have broadened the possibilities for new trans-disciplinary research.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements	文明創出メカニズムの根幹にあるヒトがモノを作り、モノがヒトを作るという関係について、またアート/技術の変化と自然環境との密接な関係とそこから生じる象徴的意味について、考古学的データに基づく研究を推進することができた。その基本的な関係性は普遍的でありながら、具体的な人間観・世界観の内容はこの数万年間で大きく変化した可能性を示すことができたことは、人類史の新しい解釈を可能にする点で、大きな学術的意義を持つ。また、人間観を根本的に問い直す視座を得たことは、重要な社会的意義をもつ。
