Outline of Annual Research Achievements

強相関電子系において普遍的に観測される、ナノからメゾスケールの自己組織化を伴う量子液晶状態に対して、下記の理論研究を推進した。
〇電荷液晶: 2層のグラフェンを魔法角だけひねって張り合わせたねじれ2層グラフェンにおけるネマティック液晶秩序を研究し、スピンとバレーの複合自由度であるSU(4)自由度の量子揺らぎが干渉して、ネマティックボンド秩序が生じる機構を見出した。また遷移金属カルコゲナイド1T-TaS2における電荷液晶の起源を解明した。2次元密度行列繰り込み群法を2次元ハバード模型に適用し、大規模数値計算を実行し、モット絶縁体状態の光伝応答を研究した。無限層Ni酸化物超電導体の超伝導発現機構を明らかにした。量子臨界点近傍の金属において、強レーザー照射による生じる高調波発生(HHG)の理論を構築した。
〇スピン液晶: スピンヘリックスの重ね合わせにより、スキルミオンやヘッジホッグ格子などのトポロジカルスピンテクスチャを生成するスピンモアレエンジニアリングを提唱した。光学におけるモアレとの類似性に基づき、重ね合わせの磁気的・トポロジカル的性質を網羅的に研究した。また、キタエフ材料物質α-RuCl3に対する理論を構築し、実験班で観測された半整数量子化異常熱ホール効果を理論的に説明した。また、キタエフスピン液体におけるスピンダイナミクス(動的スピン構造因子、磁化率、NMR緩和率)や、線形・非線形光学応答を研究した。
〇古典液晶の研究: 古典液晶系におけるトポロジカル相転移による創発弾性場に着目して、分子カイラリティーと立体異方性の影響を明らかにした。また古典液晶とスキルミオン格子との非自明なアナロジーを明らかにすることが出来た。

Reason

計画班内の理論家同士や、他研究班の実験家との密接な共同研究を積極的に推進し、重要な研究成果を得た。
電荷液晶については、ねじれ2層グラフェンのネマティック秩序の研究において、SU(4)量子揺らぎ干渉機構という新種の液晶発現機構を見出した。また2次元ハバード模型の大規模数値解析を実行し、モット絶縁体状態や量子臨界点における理論を発展させた。スピン液晶については、スピンモアレエンジニアリングの手法を提唱し、スキルミオン系の理論を格段に進歩させた。また、キタエフスピン液体におけるスピンダイナミクスや非線形光学応答を研究した。さらに、古典液晶とスキルミオン格子との非自明なアナロジーを解明した。
これらの成果に基づき、2020年度に計画班のメンバーは46 本、公募班のメンバーは23本の査読付き論文を出版した。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

電荷液晶に関して、カゴメ格子超伝導体、ニッケル酸化物、重い電子系、捻じれ2層グラフェンなどを新規液晶物質の研究を推進する。密度波方程式理論や動的平均場理論、2次元密度行列繰り込み群理論など最先端の手法を用いた、量子液晶の非平衡現象の理論を構築する。カゴメ格子超伝導体で観測されたループ電流秩序の発現機構を研究し、磁場中相図を明らかにするためGinzburg-Landau理論を構築する。
スピン液晶に関して、スピンモアレエンジニアリングの手法を発展させ、スキルミオン系における各種創発現象を明らかにする。キタエフスピン液体における非線形応答や動的運動を明らかにする。スキルミオンやヘッジホッグといったトポロジカルなスピン構造に関して、遍歴電子に起因した安定化機構を研究する。
最新の第一原理的手法を駆使して、電荷液晶やスピン液晶を実現する物質設計の理論に取り組む。スピン密度汎関数理論の結果から自動的に低エネルギー有効模型を構築し、電気伝導度や熱電係数といった輸送係数を計算する枠組みを構築する。
