| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本計画研究班では、伊豆小笠原海域にて3航海（淡青丸KT12-29, よこすかYK12-13, なつしまNT13-05）、沖縄トラフにて2航海（YK12-05, KT12-13）を実施し、現場センサー類を用いた熱水プルーム探査、熱水プルームマッピング調査、微生物活性データ、動物プランクトン試料を実施した。また前年から引き続き、地滑りによる海底下から海洋へのフラックス測定を目的として、日本海溝における2航海（YK12-13, かいれいKR12-19）に参加しデータを取得した。
沖縄トラフと日本海溝の調査では、しんかい6500にて新規開発された128連式熱水プルーム採水器を運用し、深海における高密度採水を通じた化学・微生物マッピングに成功した。
インド洋の熱水プルーム試料を対象に、次世代シーケンサーを用いた16S rRNA遺伝子のdeep-sequencingを実施した。これらの結果から、インド洋、沖縄トラフ、伊豆ーマリアナの熱水プルームの主要な一次生産者は硫黄酸化微生物Thioglobus属のSUP05系統群であり、これに加えてインド洋や沖縄トラフでは水素酸化、メタン酸化微生物が出現することが明らかになった。またこのSUP05系統群は、熱水の噴出直後に還元型硫黄成分をとりこみ、それを徐々に酸化消費して一次生産を行っていることが示唆された。前年度までに採取したインド洋や小笠原海域のの動物プランクトン試料を用いて、動物プランクトン中の炭素および窒素の安定同位体計測を実施した。
これまでの成果をとりまとめ、米国地球物理学会や論文として発表した。
