Research Abstract

本研究課題では、生殖様式、褐虫藻獲得様式など生活史戦略の異なるサンゴについて、それぞれ代表的なサンゴ種を用いて、そのストレス応答を各生活史段階において調べることを目的とする。ストレス要因としては、高温、強光、海水pH、栄養塩濃度をとりあげ、生残や栄養状態、成長の他、褐虫藻の光合成能、骨格の微細形態と微量元素組成、そして細胞内酸化ストレス、石灰化、細胞死関連の遺伝子発現に着目して解析する。また、細胞内酸化ストレスの指標を測定することにより、さまざまなストレスの強度や持続時間とストレス応答の関係を解析し、サンゴ礁の複合ストレス応答モデル作成のための基礎データを得る。さらに、サンゴ-褐虫藻共生体において、宿主と褐虫藻それぞれが、協調的に遺伝子発現をコントロールし、共生体としてのストレス防御能を高めているというモデルを構築し、検証する。
