Outline of Annual Research Achievements

重いダークマターの崩壊や対消滅によって作られた高エネルギーガンマ線は周囲の光子場と相互作用して電磁カスケードを起こし、より低いエネルギーのガンマ線を作る。銀河団や矮小銀河はダークマターの間接探査に有効な天体である。我々はフェルミ衛星によって得られた14年のガンマ線データを解析しつつ、重いダークマターの対消滅や崩壊によって生まれるガンマ線やレプトンのスペクトルを計算し、更にガンマ線の伝搬コードを適用して遠方銀河から地球に到達するまでのスペクトルへの影響も考慮した。矮小銀河の解析においては前年度に構築したダークマターサブハローの質量関数の性質を記述する定式化も利用した。これまでの探査では主にダークマターからの直接的なガンマ線に着目していたが、MAGICやHAWCの観測による制限よりも強い制限を、フェルミ衛星のデータから我々の詳細な計算を通して得ることができた。
すばる望遠鏡のCCDには大量の宇宙線空気シャワー粒子が入射しているため、その画像が取得される可能性があることを見出した。すばる望遠鏡HSCのデータに入射した宇宙線空気シャワーの解析を行い、前例のない位置分解能での空気シャワー粒子の撮像に成功した。この発見は、幅広い研究領域での融合から生まれた成果と言える。
極めて弱い相互作用を持つダークマターの探索において、天然の鉱物結晶は地質学的時間スケールで稼働しているため、少量でも十分な露出量が期待できるターゲット物質として期待されている。天然白雲母の中に存在するダークマター由来の原子核反跳の痕跡を探る実験の基礎づけを進めた。

Reason

新型コロナウィルスの影響により、ポスドクのDas氏とSong氏の雇用が遅延したが、重いダークマターの粒子の寿命や対消滅断面積について、超高エネルギーニュートリノ背景放射観測を用いた制限と、銀河団と矮小銀河についてFermiによるガンマ線データを用いた制限を行い、成果をまとめた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

マルチメッセンジャー観測から得られたダークマターへの制限を宇宙論的な制限と比べつつ、ダークマター生成機構への示唆を議論する。
