Outline of Annual Research Achievements

我々が開発したHyper Suprime-Cam等の観測でダークマターの大局的分布が明らかになりつつある。しかし、この観測からだけでは、ダークマターそのものの性質(ダークマター粒子の質量や相互作用)に関する詳細な情報を得ることはできない。現在検討されている多様なダークマター粒子候補の違いは、銀河や銀河団の小スケール密度分布の違いにあらわれるため、より高空間分解能を高めたダークマター密度分布の測定によってはじめてその観測的検証が可能となるためである。我々は、高速読み出し可能なCMOSセンサーを開発し、ラッキーイメージングという手法を採用することで空間解像度を改善する。これにより、より多くの銀河の形状を精密に測定することできるため、弱重力レンズ解析の制度を向上させ従来より高精度なダークマター密度分布の観測が可能になる。また高速読み出しによりもたらされる、時間分解能の向上により、マイクロ重力レンズの観測パラメータを大きく広げることもできる。HSCを用いた大域的な重力レンズ測定とCMOSセンサーによる高分解能重力レンズ測定を組み合わせることで、多様な観測から高精度のダークマターモデルの検証を行うことが本研究の目標である。本年度は、昨年度に引き続き、CMOSセンサーの量産、高速読み出し回路プロトタイプの設計を行った。また、読み出しに必要なネットワーク機器用のドライバー開発も行った。翌年度より最終組み上げに入れる見通しである。

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.

Reason

我々のグループは、先行研究においてセンサーとして可動する試作品を完成させていたが、実際の観測で使用し天文学の目標を達成するには、以下3点の技術課題を解決する必要があった(1) 量子効率と電荷の広がりのトレードオフの最適化、(2) 受光面内の量子効率の非一様性、(3) 毎秒10フレーム読み出しを可能にする、読み出し回路の開発。(1), (2)を解決した最終版CMOSを2021年度に、広い視野を実現するために、複数個のセンサーを量産した。(3)の電子回路については、プロトタイプの基本設計、高速転送ネットワークドライバ(ソフトウェア)の開発が完了した。一方、計画当初予定していた国内中口径望遠鏡での試験観測は、コロナの影響で来年度以降に先送りせざるを得なかった。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

実望遠鏡における観測は、本研究の準備段階の2020年2月に行えて以降、コロナの影響があり、行えていない。想定していた国内望遠鏡は現在フル稼働の状況で、試験を行うのは困難になりつつある。海外小型望遠鏡での試験を考えなければならない。
