Outline of Annual Research Achievements

本宿主-病原菌間の相互作用は、強力であり(Haldane 1949)、生物進化の原動力の一つと言われている。相互作用からの自然選択は、双方の生物の相互作用に関わる遺伝子およびその周辺のゲノムのDNA配列上に特徴的な痕跡を残す。生物種の多数の個体を対象に全ゲノム解析を実施し、近縁種のゲノム配列と比較することにより、ゲノムDNAの種内変異と近縁種間の変異の検出・解析(集団ゲノム学:Population genomics)が可能になった。本課題では、全ゲノム解析による植物とその病原菌・寄生者の共進化で生じる強い自然選択がゲノムに残した痕跡を同定して、選択の働いた遺伝子を見いだし、その機能を解明することに焦点を当てる。そのために、(1)植物-病原菌・寄生者相互作用のゲノム解析およびエフェクターの同定、(2)全ゲノム解析によるselective sweep検出技術の開発と利用、の2つの研究を実施する。本年度は、いもち病菌エフェクターAVR-Pikとイネ抵抗性タンパク質Pikの相互作用の結晶構造解析に成功した。さらに、いもち病菌エフェクターAVR-Piiとイネ抵抗性タンパク質Piiの相互作用の分子機構解明も進展した。野生生物オニドコロのゲノム解析にも着手した。
