脂肪細胞肥大化の系を用いて肥大化に伴い活性が減少するアディポネクチンのプロモーター近傍の転写制御領域に結合するHeb1は、in vitro, in vivoの機能解析の結果から、肥大化に伴う代謝シグナルによる制御を受け、アディポネクチン転写を制御することが示唆された。２型糖尿病の疾患感受性遺伝子であるCDKAL1は、脂肪組織における発現がBMIと逆相関しており、脂肪蓄積および脂肪細胞分化に対して抑制性に作用することを見出した。N末側の機能ドメインがその作用に重要であり、3T3-L1の分化系のC/EBPβやC/EBPδ以降のPPARγやC/EBPαの転写カスケードに作用する経路の中で、PPARγに抑制性に作用するWnt経路をCDKAL1が活性する作用を認めた。Wnt経路ではβカテニンの活性化と核移行が増強されていた。aP2プロモーターによる過剰発現では脂肪萎縮や脂肪量減少は認めなかった。エピゲノムによる脂肪蓄積の制御の分子メカニズムの検討では、ゲノム上のヒストン就職やクロマチン構造を検出するChIP-seqやFAIRE-seqを施行し、白色・褐色脂肪特異的な転写制御領域とその制御因子の解析を行い、細胞特異的な転写メカニズムを明らかにした。
