Outline of Annual Research Achievements

1. カロテノイドの光収穫能の解明:クロロフィル-aを可溶化した陽イオン型界面活性剤のミセル表面あるいは内部にカロテノイド色素であるクロセチンを複合化した分子材料を構築し,その光アンテナ機能,ミセル媒体で進行する励起エネルギー移動・光保護(エネルギー散逸)過程を時間分解分光法によって検討し、クロセチンのS1とS2励起状態からクロロフィル-aのQxとQy帯へのエネルギー伝達を有効に利用していることを明らかにした。
2. 緑色細菌由来のクロロゾームの超分子構造解明:緑色細菌のペリフェラルアンテナ部であるクロロゾームの超分子構造解明を、分子生物学的手法による変異体の作成と構成クロロフィルの(半)合成モデル分子を利用した人工系を構築することによって行い、直径5nmのチューブ状の超分子構造体を形成していることを明らかにした。天然クロロゾームの構成分子であるバクテリオクロロフィル-cを模した3位にヒドロキシメチル基と17位上にドデシルエステル基を有する半合成亜鉛クロリンは、様々な疎水的環境で容易に安定な5nmのチューブ状自己集積体を形成することを明らかにした。
3. 光合成アンテナとメソポーラス物質の連結体の創製:細孔表面をトリメチルシラン処理で疎水化したメソポーラスシリカナノ粒子における平均直径が5.5nmの細孔内に、2で記した半合成亜鉛クロロフィル誘導体の自己集積体を固定化することに成功した。さらに励起エネルギーのアクセプター分子となるBChl類を担持した系において、光励起エネルギー移動を示唆する結果も得られた。

Reason

1)カロテノイドの光収穫能の解明と2)緑色細菌由来のクロロゾームの超分子構造解明は、予定通りの進展がみられた。3)光合成アンテナとメソポーラス物質の連結体の創製は、人工光合成系の実用化に向けて展開研究を行っており、予想以上の進展が見られた。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

これまでの研究成果を基にして、さらに1)紅色細菌由来のLH1-RCの機能解明とその人工モデルの構築と、2)緑色細菌由来のクロロゾームの超分子構造・機能解明と人工光合成アンテナの創製を行いつつ、3)光合成アンテナとメソポーラス物質の連結体を利用した人工光合成系の研究を進めていく。
