Outline of Annual Research Achievements

プロジェクトの後半期に入り、計画研究メンバ―6名と公募研究としてあらたに6名が加わり継続組と合わせ8名の公募研究と連携を組み、品質改良が進んだグラフェン・二次元膜と新規物質から成る原子膜が加わり、領域内、領域外へのサンプル提供を活発に推進した。特に、国際共同研究助成プログラムが採択され、合成班からは4名の研究者が積極的に海外の原子層研究者との交流を図り、活発な共同研究を立ち上げた。各合成法においても班内の連携が活発化し、大きく進展が見られた、公募班も含めた28年度の論文発表は55件に上っている。
CVD法に関しては、12月に班内のCVD法メンバー(斉木、野田、丸山)を中心に徹底討論会を開催し、CVD法の課題の洗い出し、可能性を議論した。その結果、斉木は熱放射顕微法によるグラフェン成長のリアルタイム観察結果より、CVD法の核発生サイトは表面上に存在する炭素系の不純物のサイズ,密度であることをつきとめ、大面積化への明確なビジョンを示した。また、丸山のアルコールCVD法によるミリメートルの高品質グラフェンの合成の実現、野田は国際共同研究により良質な単層CNTの高速CVD合成技術の開発を推進し、連続プロセスによる大規模化の足掛かりになると期待しされる。
楠によるSiC熱分解によるエピタキシャルグラフェンにおいては、基板との結合を持つバッファー層の存在により移動度が低減する問題に対処するため、グラフェンとSiCの熱膨張係数を利用し、高温から液体窒素温度に急冷することで結合を切断し、バッファー層を自立グラフェンに変換させることに成功した。
北浦はMBEを用いることでCVD法では合成が困難であった単層NbSe2の作製に成功し、数百nmのグレインサイズを達成した。
依光による有機合成法では、ポルフィリン二枚をつなげて原子層を広げる合成手法を開発し、全可視光領域にわたって吸収することを見出した。

Reason

合成班の目的である、高品質・大面積のグラフェン、新規2次元膜の合成を実現するためには、合成研究者同士の深い議論と協力が重要である。合成班では、全体会議で設けられる班会議の時間を有効に使い、合成に関する問題点の洗い出し、活発な議論を行った。また、初年度に重点的に配した予算で各メンバーが購入した装置が、軌道に乗ってきたことから、他班への試料提供が順調に進み、また、国際共同研究助成によって海外との共同研究が開始されたことからも、多くの成果が得られた要因と考えられる。さらに、第2期の公募研究も加わり、新規二次元材料の合成技術も追加されたことにより、2者、3者間の共同研究が可能になっていることも、成果の加速に貢献している。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

高品質・大面積のグラフェン、新規2次元膜の合成と試料提供の活発な推進という研究目的に向け、これまでの成果をさらに磨き、より活発な共同研究を行なうことに注力してゆく。特に公募班として加わっている若い研究者と計画研究メンバーとの協力を密にし、班内での共同研究を模索し、あたらしい二次元材料を生み出すことも視野に入れてゆく。
