| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
本研究の目的は、『臓器組織・機能情報』の診断支援法の具現化を目指し、機能モデル等を利用した「高次診断支援システム」を開発することである。初年度は、研究で取り扱うテーマの詳細な検討と、それらの初期の研究開発を行った。
１．核医学画像診断支援システム：①全身PET/CT装置から得られるCT像を用いた臓器抽出結果を活用し、PET像を標準化する手法を評価した。また、異常集積と正常構造との代謝量の違いをROC解析によって明らかにした。②CTによる形態情報とPETによる機能情報を利用した肺結節の自動検出法を開発し、従来手法に比べ検出感度の向上を確認した。③全身SPECT/CT画像から骨領域中の集積を自動評価する手法を検討した。自作の骨ファントムで画質特性を評価し、自動解析ソフトウェアの一部を開発した。
２．MR画像診断支援システム：①全身MR画像に基づく機能分析の研究として、解剖構造と水拡散機能を併用してMR画像からリンパ節と腫瘍を自動検出するシステムの開発を目標とし、検診画像を対象とした処理手順の設計に着手した。②乳腺MR画像の非造影T1強調画像と拡散強調画像から乳房領域を自動抽出する処理法や、乳房領域内の腫瘍領域を自動検出する手法を開発した。
３．身体機能診断支援システム：①全身CT画像において３つの骨格筋を対象として研究を遂行した。ALS患者の症例を収集し、認識の初期手順として骨格の区域情報の分類に取り組んだ。次に、骨格筋の筋機能の部位別解析の手順構築の初期段階として、肩部及び骨盤部における筋の認識手順の検討を行った。棘上筋と腸骨筋を対象とした初期的な筋モデルを構築し認識に応用した。②超音波装置を用いて下肢筋肉を定量評価するため、テクスチャ解析と画像特徴に基づいた定量評価ソフトウェアを開発し、筋力計による下肢筋力の測定結果と超音波画像の画像解析結果との相関を確認した。

Reason
初年度として、機能を取り扱うという主課題に対して，具体的な研究の内容や方向性を検討し、詳細な研究計画を吟味・決定した。そして、各研究対象において、新しい画像データベースの収集をすでに開始した。
また、個別の各テーマの研究では、初期の処理アルゴリズムの開発，ファントム実験、評価実験を行い，有益な結果を得ている。
さらには、これらの初期の研究成果の一部を、国内外での学会や研究会で発表する（あるいはすでに発表済み）ことができている。
以上より、本研究課題はおおむね順調に進展していると判断される。

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
現時点では大きな障害はなく、基本的に計画通りに研究を継続して進める予定である。
想定される問題点として画像データベースの収集測度，その量と質がある。よって、システム開発に必要な症例を、比較的短い期間内に大量の画像症例が集められないことを想定して、次年度にはより多くの医療施設に協力を求め、他の計画班や公募班の研究者らと密に協力しながら，研究を進行していくことが重要になると考える。
また、想定しているイメージングモダリティに限定せず、研究領域の裾野を幅広く広げていき、他のイメージングモダリティを含めた画像解析（形態解析から機能解析へ拡張）を検討し、より高度な形態・機能解析を目指す。
