Research Abstract |
The Model-Engineering method has been introduced in the highly complicated piping design. However, the transformation from piping model to 3-D data for CAD is carried out by human handwork. Therefore the linkage of Model-Engineering with CAD has not been accomplished. A new idea for a measuring method of 3-D data from 3-D model was obtained during the study. The availability of this new method was confirmed by the basic experiments using a big caliber convex lens, the beam of light for photographing is changed to parallel one. The 700mm caliber lens was designed and made of acrylic plastics. The pictures taken by this light are orthogonal projection figures on films or printing papers. Without special transformation, 3-D data of the model can be obtained easily from the figures by using a digitizer. This new transformation method is named the orthogonal photograph method. In order to get the front, top and side view of the piping model, a revolving stand of the model was designed. The orthogonal photograph method is constructed with the model revolving stand, the big caliber lens stand and a camera stand. As the model pipes are colored according to their lines, the piping routes can be classified easily by color filters when the films are projected on the digitizer or printing papers. The 3-D data of classified piping routes were inputted to a computer, and the individual piping drawings and the whole assembled piping routes drawings were obtained by the CAD functions. It co uld be concluded that the object of the first stage of this research was almost attained.
