Research Abstract |
There still remain many problems to be solved on allotransplantation of trachea. The blood supply to the graft is one of the most important factors for its survival. This study was carried out to evaluate the effects of omentopexy that will be more increase of blood supply to the graft. Twelve dogs were used for this experiment of allotransplantation of trachea. Under intravenous general anesthesia, the cervical trachea in the donor dog was exposed and 5 segments of tracheal cartslage were excised, and then these grafts were transplanted at the same portion of the cervical trachea in the recipient dog. After the allotransplantation, the omental pedicle was transplanted around the graft, to get the effective blood supply. The canines were divided into two groups: group A; good blood supply in omentum (n=6) and group B; poor supply in omentum (n=6) White coating was observed inside the graft in all dogs with bronchofiberscopy. The dogs of group A, however, had survived longer than the dogs of group B. The mean survival days of group A and B were 34.6 * 6.80 days and 18.4 * 6.47 days, respectively. These results suggest that the blood supply to the allograft of trachea by omentopexy is important factor for the extension of its survival time.
