Research Abstract |
We observe that the companies of higher average age of employees recorded higher value added per employee on 1987 fiscal year, in the annual reports on accounting of about 1, 100 companies listed on all national stock exchanges. The theme of this research exists in analyzing what influences have the aging of employees on the management performance, through seeking for the factors causing the tendency mentioned above, and also in examining what countermeasures we can take with them. This research is composed of following three parts. (1) We produced a computer system calculating and disposing the indices of management performances especially of value added productivities. (2) We investigated the differences of management performances in comparison with the differences of average age of employees, through sending out a questionnaire to each company classified productivity patterns. (3) And we analyzed the data obtained by these procedures, and drew out some tendencies of the relation between the management performances especially labor management and ages of employees. In this research we can state three steps of the measures against the aging probrems of employees. The first step is the accounting problem, for example that of increasing labor costs. We used to take the measure against this problem from the view point of employee benefits. The second step is the productivity problems which are accompanied by the aging of employee. We should take strategies against this problem the rationalization especially labor-saving ones. The higher value added per employee is, however, accompanied by lower value added to working tangible fixed assets. The third step comes how to improve this index. I think we can rise this index only by the development of labor abilities of a employee, and this is a severe question from now on of companies in Japan.
