Research Abstract |
本研究の目的は、北西太平洋縁(日本海周辺)の好冷性介形虫3科(Hemicythere,Cytherura,Eucythere科)について、中新世(1000万年前)以降の進化の歴史(多様性変遷史)と海洋環境の関連を知ることである。そのためまずは現在の種分布と生息環境を詳しく知る必要がある。 そこで現生介形虫の種分布が未調査である、オホーツク海南部網走沖の陸棚上部〜陸棚斜面で得た表層堆積物16試料(水深49〜1558m)を検討した。その結果、13試料より計40属69種が摘出され、日本海との共通種が多いことが明らかになった。全種の分布データと多産種の電子顕微鏡写真を、Ozawa et al.(印刷中)で初め公表した。 この海域の3科の種の水深分布を基に、海上保安庁JODCの水温・塩分データベースを用いて夏と冬の生息環境条件を特定した。既知の日本海の生息水塊特性と総合した結果、14種の生息場が水温・塩分範囲等の違いで3タイプ;日本/外洋・内湾型(9種)、日本・アラスカ/外洋型(1種)、日本/外洋型(4種)に区分された。この結果から、これらの種は生息可能な水温・塩分範囲が広く、より深い水深やより広範囲の外洋浅海へ進出できたこと、低塩分の内湾域にも分布できたために、更新世以降の日本海・周辺海洋の激しい環境変動を生き延びたことが判明した。この成果は、論文で公表する予定である。 また日本列島での3科の種の初出時代も、多様性変遷を知る際に重要である。そこで冷水域の貝化石を含み、好冷性介形虫の産出が期待できる中新世・.鮮新世の地層を対象とした。 本年度は北海道の幌加尾白利加層・滝川層・秩父別層・茂築別層(中新世・鮮新世)の地質調査を行い、60個の岩石試料を採取した。これらは現在処理中である。また富山県の東別所層(中新世)の50個の試料から介形虫を摘出し、種の鑑定を進めている。
