By "Database of Ming Painters and Painting, "offered by Professor James Cahill of Depatment of Art History in UC,Berkeley, and cooperated in supplementing data, studies were made not only on painting in the Ming-Qing periods but on early works in the Song-Yuan. Two presentations, entitled "Four Wangs and Huand Gongwang"and "Portrait of Ni Can" were made at the two internatinal Symposia in Shanghai and Wuxi, October, 1992, and an the 46th Convention of Art-historian Conference, at Osaka, May, 1993, a result of the above-mentioned studies was reported under the title "a Note on Painting of Studios, the utopia of Yuan literati." At the East Branch regular meeting of the Art-historian's Conference, December, 1994, a studyi on the 17th-cent. painter Shitao was reported. The former chief-curator of the Asiatic Department in the Metropolitan Museum of arts, Ms.Alfreda Murck, was invited from Taiwan to give two lectures ; "Meaning of vegetable in poetry and painting in China" and "the Eight Views of Hsiao-hsiang Rivers, history and poetical meaning." All these papers from the exchanging projects were printed in the bochur "Research Notes on Ming-Qing Painting." The "Notes" also included the translation of Mr.Joseph Chang's Chinese article, "Shitao's handscroll <<Sixteen Lohans>> and album of <<Mt. Huang>>, "and Dr.Waikam Ho and Ms.Dawn Ho Delbanco's "Tung Ch'i-ch'ang's Transcendence of History and Art, "from the exhibition catalog of "the Century of Tung Ch'i-ch'ang 1555-1636"at the Nelson-Atkins Museum, Kansas City. The paper "Shitao and his <<Watching the Waterfall at Mt.Lu>> was presented to the annual meeting of CAA,at NYU in February, 1994. In December, 1994, and March, 1995, attended two symposia in China ; their reports are forthcoming.
