Research Abstract	細菌・ウイルス・寄生虫などの外来微生物に対する防御機構として進化を遂げてきたと考えられる免疫機構は、外来抗原への応答性と自己への寛容性という相異なる機能を有している。すなわち免疫系を機能させるためには、免疫制御機構を内在する必然性があると考えられる。免疫現象には、複数の細胞集団がそれぞれの表面分子あるいは特異的な可溶性因子を発現することにより関与している。免疫制御・寛容の分子機構を解明するために発足した重点領域では3つの計画研究班と公募研究によって研究が進められているが、各研究者間の情報交換、共同研究の支援、研究の方向性の検討などを目的として総括班を組織した。今年度の総括班の活動として、研究者への情報提供のため、研究者名簿の作成と3回のニュースレターの発行を行った。また、我国における免疫学研究者が一同に会し、免疫制御の分子機構解明のための研究成果を発表・討議する合同シンポジウムを2回(1993年9月13日〜14日福岡および1994年2月1日東京)開催した。
