Research Abstract |
We have had 6 meetings of study during this year. The reporters and their subjects of these meetings are as follows. Prof.Akira AMAGASAKI discussed on the "artistic value and body", taking the materials from dance : giving a particular attention to the judging terms used by the critics of dance, he explained the specific artistic value found in the body of dancers. Prof.Tanehisa OTABE tried to reconstruct the axiology of the 18th century aesthetics, i. e. aesthetic thoughts at the time when there were not distinctive notion of value. Prof.Junko NAGANO studied the historical development of the idea "sublime", from Burke via Kant to Nietzsche, from the viewpoint of "intensity of life" ; in doing so, she underlined the meaning of gender image proper to the aesthetic category as the sublime. Prof.Yoshimitsu KATO made subject of the logic of predicate and the notion of place proposed by K.Nishida, and tried to "found the aesthetic experience on the notion of vital relationship" in redescribing the notions of Nishida from the viewpoint of science of life and vitalistic philosophy. Prof.Masashi OISHI explained the thought of the aesthetic value produced by an absolut affirmation, in the nihilistic philosophy of Nietzsche who aimed the reevaluation of value. Prof.Rumiko ITO,taking the clue of the thoughts of P.Kivy, considered on the relation between the work of music and its interpretation(playing), especially on the problem of authenticity of interpretation. Outside these meetings, Prof.K.SASAKI published his study of the idea of value in his book. We edited also a report book, including the papers read at the memetings of previous year and the small international symposium held November 1993 with two guest speakers : Prof.Bohdan DZIEMIDOK from Poland Prof.Heinz PAETZOLD from Germany.
