Research Abstract

[1]拠るべきテクストと言語の問題の研究。Beowulf, Chaucerを中心に、関連作品を含めて綜合的基礎研究を進め、平成7年度末公刊のText and Language of Beowulf, Chaucer and Related Worksの内容を検討し編集作業を進めた。研究成果の一部は、研究打ち合わせ会でScahill,佐藤が報告を行ったほか、日本文学会第67回大会(7.5.筑波大学)のシンポジウム(吉野司会)において吉野、小川が報告し、同学会第68回大会(8.5.立正大学)のシンポジウム(久保内司会)において久保内、Scahillが報告する予定。いずれも、写本テクストの厳密な読みと、さらに句読点の問題や写本の作成段階に対する議論が、今後の中世テクスト・言語研究に不可欠であることを主張するもの。来日の外国人研究者との意見交換については、Sheffield大学 N. F. Blake教授(7.7.24), Adam Mickiewicz大学 J. Fisiak教授(7.11.11), Oxford大学 D. Gray教授(7.12.6)を招き、講演・報告、意見交換を行き有益であった。Fisial教授を迎えて開催の国際会議「京都英語史研究者会議」(7.11.3-4 同志社大学)では久保内、小倉が報告を行ったが、久保内は英語史研究における写本句読点研究の重要性を論じた。小倉は動詞、助動詞研究の成果をこの会議において発表したほか、IMC大会(7.7.Leeds),日本英語学会大会(7.11.東京学芸大学)等において発表した。このほか高宮が伊Perugia(7.4),丁抹Roskilde(7.7)において研究成果の発表を行った。[2]写本、刊本テクストの電子テクスト化とコンコーダンス。松本編のThe Destruction of Troyコンコーダンスの完成を見たほか、Variorum Beowulfについても、本年度は久保内が原写本の一部照合を行うなど、1650行までの公刊準備を特殊文字のフォントの問題を除き完了した。[3]『中世英語英文研究業績リスト』1990-94年4年分アンケートに基づく補訂(再調査を含む)編集作業を継続した。
