Research Abstract |
1994 1.Standard basic technology of floating culture system was examined and established from the view point of raft material, raft size, planting method, kind and amount of fertilizer. 2.It was made clear that the most suitable plant for floating culture was Canna indica L.and Cyperus alternifolis L.among 30 spesies tested. The both plants produced remarkably high biomass as compared to other plants. The weight of nitrogen absorbed by plant from the water in pool was higher than that of supploed from fertilizer. NO3-N,NH4-N,total P and COD concentration of the water in pool on whererice and wheet plants were grown with floating culture were lower than those of the non-planted pool (control). 1995 Biomass production and water cleaning of Canna and Cyperus grown with floating culture were examined in comparison with soil culture plants. Growth analysis and photosynthesis of Canna were also compared with both culture. Ferther, the morphological feature of root in several plants grown with bot

h culture was compared. 1.Biomass production of floating cultured both plants, Canna and Cyperus were remarkably higher than that of soil cultured them. These values in floating culture were 4 times and 5 times in Canna and Cyperus, respectly. Especially, Canna absorbed actively phosphorus and pottassium. Therefore, theis plant will become eliminator of both elements. 2.High biomass production in floating culture of Canna depended on large leaf area production and net assimilation rate (NAR). HIgh NAR was due to high photosynthetic rate (Pn) of the plant. Further high Pn caused by high ability of leaf conductance and mesophhyll conductance which representas CO_2 fixzation effeciency in chloroplast of mesophyll cell. 3.From the microphotograph of the cross section of root some plant species grown with floating and soil culture. More formation of lysigenous aerenchyma was cobserved in roots of floating cultureplants compared to soil culture plants. However, there was species difference of the formation. There was high correlation between formation of lysigenous aerenchyma and specific weight of root. Less
