| Research Abstract |
The mentally hadicapped persons (including the demential elderly and the mentally retarded) are difficult to live independently. So, the object of this study is to organize dwelling environment for them, through three research parts.
Part 1 is to investigated it about the being at home mentallly handicapped person who contained group home resident. Part 2 is investigated it about the patient and the resident to institutions that independence degree was the lowest. As for the Part 3, the same interview questionnaire investigated the person who is not mentallly handicapped (student, silverhousing resident etc) that independence degree was high to the object to compare it with those. The investigation contents ask relation with space constitution to affect this about all kinds of every day life act. s 3 phases. Average independence degree is an assumption sequence as following ; student>silver-housing resident>group home resident>outpatient at home>institution resident>patient at hospital resident>.
But there is not a person of perfect score, even if says that person who is not mentally handicapped. Each does role allotment with each life aspect, supplements it with the social resources, and does cutting corners. It is good to do cutting corners by intention of oneself, but a problem of the person whom it isn't possible for changes it, and it is submitted by an obstacle of mind and body even if want to do independence and the social participation.
In particular, in case of old mentally handicapped, I fall into the immutable thing unselfish situation in a hospital and an institution, and they were found even the situation that, but, seem to wait for death. I feel that I must let environment preparation corresponding to this fill up deeply.
As addition, I investigate it about the damage and the restoration situation of welfare institution by South Hyogo earthquake. Majority among dead persons were a person of advanced age and handicapped, however, there are fortunately a little the damage of welfare institution comparatively.
